Commitment to Inclusivity

Arlo Physical Therapy & Wellness is proudly woman and BIPOC-owned. I acknowledge that systems of oppression* shape the conditions that bring many to physical therapy. Research shows that chronic stress disproportionately impacts BIPOC, LGBTQI+, disabled, neurodivergent, and non-native English speakers—yet these same groups often face barriers to quality care. Harmful dynamics in healthcare, including bias, microaggressions, and medical racism, are real. My own experiences, along with those of friends and clients, have deepened my commitment to dismantling these systems within my practice.

As a cisgender, heterosexual, able-bodied provider, I recognize my privilege and actively work to challenge my biases. The ability to pursue my career and open a private practice stems from privilege, and I strive to leverage it, alongside my identity as a Puerto Rican woman, to create change.

My goal is to provide an inclusive, affirming healing space. I have pursued training in anti-racism and LGBTQI+ care and continue to engage in deep learning alongside fellow BIPOC wellness professionals. This is an ongoing, imperfect process, but one I am committed to for my growth, my clients' well-being, and broader societal transformation.

Pelvic health physical therapy is not just for cisgender women. Trans women, trans men, and non-binary individuals have vital health needs that my work addresses. Regardless of gender identity or background, all deserve compassionate, inclusive care, and I am dedicated to providing a safe, supportive environment for all.
